WELCOMES TWO NEW DOCTORS
-ASMI Fellowship-Trained Graduates Join Practice-
Drs. Ketchum and Rothermich both received their fellowship training in sports medicine at the American Sports Medicine Institute (ASMI) and Andrews Sports Medicine in Birmingham, Alabama.
“We are very thrilled to welcome Drs. Monte Ketchum and Marc Rothermich to our Andrews Sports Medicine team of physicians,” said Dr. Jeffrey R. Dugas., an orthopaedic surgeon and managing partner at Andrews Sports Medicine & Orthopaedic Center. “I had the privilege of spending considerable amounts of time with Monte and Marc during their sports medicine fellowships. They are skilled doctors dedicated to serving their patients and communities, but just as importantly, they are awesome husbands and fathers.”
Monte Ketchum, DO
Dr. Monte Ketchum is a non-surgical sports medicine & orthopaedic physician. He treats all types of musculoskeletal injuries, including sprains, strains, fractures and sports-related concussions. Dr. Ketchum performs various types of ultrasound-guided injections, including viscosupplementation for osteoarthritis of joints and platelet-rich plasma therapy for tendon and ligament injuries and arthritic conditions.
Dr. Ketchum graduated from Western Kentucky University with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry. While at WKU, he was a member of the Hilltoppers baseball team. He then received his medical degree from Lincoln Memorial University - DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Ketchum completed a family medicine residency at Bayfront Health, followed by a primary care sports medicine fellowship at the American Sports Medicine Institute and Andrews Sports Medicine.
Dr. Ketchum is now accepting patients at our Gardendale, St. Vincent’s One Nineteen, and St. Vincent’s Birmingham locations.
Marcus A. Rothermich, MD
Dr. Marcus A. Rothermich is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon with fellowship training in sports medicine. He has extensive training in both general and orthopaedic surgery and complex sports medicine techniques. He has an interest in elbow reconstruction in overhead athletes, rotator cuff repairs, complex knee surgery and total joint replacement.
Dr. Rothermich attended college at the University of Notre Dame and was roommates with Dr. Michael K. Ryan, also an orthopaedic surgeon at Andrews Sports Medicine. He earned his medical degree from the University of Virginia and served as the President of the Orthopaedic Society at the medical school. Dr. Rothermich completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, in affiliation with Washington University in St. Louis. He then completed fellowship training in orthopaedic surgery sports medicine at the American Sports Medicine Institute and Andrews Sports Medicine.
Dr. Rothermich is accepting new patients at our Trussville, Winfield, and St. Vincent’s Birmingham locations.
