I saw Dr. Flanagan in April of this year. Because I had gotten a cortisone shot from Dr. Smith in March, I had to wait a little longer to have the surgery. I had the surgery done June 21st of this year. Before surgery, I went to a wellness and physical therapy center in the county I live in. I knew I couldn’t hyperextend my leg so I focused my pre-rehab with 20 minutes on the bike and 6-8 laps doing backstroke in the pool. This really helped me strengthen my hip.

I am feeling great and would recommend Dr. James Flanagan to anyone needing hip replacements and Drs. Charles Carnel and Andrew Cordover for back issues. I recommend Andrews Sports Medicine to all my family and friends dealing with orthopedic issues! Before I visited Andrews Sports Medicine, I was experiencing all kinds of pain, but once I took the step to go I was able to focus on getting better.

I first chose Dr. James Flanagan for my hip issue in 2019 based on his background and lengthy experience, I thought he would be the "best fit" for me and my hip replacement surgery!
I was definitely not wrong - from his friendly & very helpful staff, to the hospital staff that looked after me, I couldn't have been in better hands!! I know they see many patients, but they all have the knack of making you feel special and like you are their #1 PRIORITY!

I really appreciate all that Dr. James Flanagan and his staff did for me. I had a great experience. As a golfer, I have been able to enjoy playing the beautiful courses in Birmingham weekly without any discomfort.

Most of my life, I have been active from sports in my youth to simply running and walking as I have gracefully gotten older. After a while, I began to feel the years of wear and tear on my left knee. I had always been aware of Andrews Sports Medicine and the great work that they have done in working with athletes. Therefore, I scheduled an appointment and made the 2-hour drive to Birmingham.
