Monte Ketchum, DO joined our non-surgical sports medicine team of physicians in October 2019. Dr. Ketchum treats patients at our Cullman and Birmingham clinic locations. Additionally, Dr. Ketchum serves as team physician for Jasper City Schools and JB Pennington High School.
Rachel G. Henderson, MD, specializes in non-surgical orthopaedic and sports medicine at Andrews Sports Medicine. She treats injuries to bones, muscles, tendons, ligaments and joints in people of all ages. Dr. Henderson is board certified in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation as well as Sports Medicine. In addition, she serves as team physician for Calera High School and Shelby County High School's sports programs, along with the Alabama Ballet and the Birmingham Track Club. Dr. Henderson treats patients at our St. Vincent’s Birmingham, Hoover and Pelham locations.
Michael K. Ryan, MD, goal for every patient he treats is to identify the important activities in life you are currently avoiding or missing due to pain and decreased function, to properly and meticulously diagnose the cause of your pain and dysfunction, and to administer the most effective and timely treatment. Should treatment require surgery, Dr. Ryan and his staff will guide you through the process to help you prepare and will provide as much information possible about surgery, rehabilitation, and eventual return to optimal function. In conjunction with the Andrews Sports Medicine & Orthopaedic Center and The Hip Center at Andrews Sports Medicine, Dr. Ryan will help you achieve Victory Over Injury.
Christopher Carter, MD is a non-surgical sports medicine and orthopaedic physician at Andrews Sports Medicine & Orthopaedic Center. Dr. Carter treats patients of all ages and activity levels with a wide variety of injuries to bones, muscles, tendons, ligaments and joints.
Jay S. Umarvadia, MD treats patients at our Gardendale and Birmingham locations. In addition, "Dr. Jay" serves as a team physician for Jacksonville State University, Gardendale High School, Cordova High School, Corner High School, Dora High School, Hayden High School and Mortimer-Jordan High School.
Benton A. Emblom, MD, specializes in sports medicine and arthroscopic treatment of the shoulder, elbow, hip and knee. He has subspecialty expertise in hip preservation surgery and hip reconstruction.
Dr. Jeffrey Davis was born in Decatur, AL and his family moved to Atlanta when he was 7 years-old. He attended Georgia Tech, playing football for 3 years before a knee injury ended his collegiate athletic career. Following undergraduate graduation, he received an Air Force scholarship for medical school at the Medical College of Georgia. His orthopedic surgical training was performed at the well-known and respected Campbell Clinic in Memphis, TN. Following the completion of his orthopedic residency, Dr. Davis served in the Air Force as an orthopedic surgeon. During his military service, he achieved the rank of Major and received an achievement medal.
