Medical Icon Achilles Tendon Rupture

On December 4, 2017, I was in the gym training with a friend. While we were running shuttles I heard my leg pop (when I started to turn to run the other way) and I immediately dropped to the ground in excruciating pain.

I was rushed to the emergency room of a local hospital where I found out I had ruptured my right Achilles tendon. The ER doctors wanted to go ahead and admit me to the hospital and have it taken care of, but my husband insisted on coming to Andrews Sports Medicine to receive treatment.

I met with Dr. Norman Waldrop on December 5 and was in surgery the very next day. While Dr. Waldrop did offer other non-surgical options, he believed surgery was the best way to go.

After the surgery, I personally thought I wouldn't be completely back for about a year, but after about 6 1/2 months, Dr. Waldrop gave me the all clear to get back into the gym!

Life now is back to normal. I'm back in the gym and going through life the way I was before my injury. My husband and I were very impressed with the service we received at Andrews and how quickly they were able to get me back to my best.

We both want to thank Dr. Waldrop and his staff for the excellent care they provided us! Andrews is truly the best there is!
