Medical Icon Hip Replacement (Anterior)

When I came to Dr. Flanagan I was in so much pain. On a scale from 1 to 10...I was 243!! I was losing my range of motion and the pain was unbearable. Over the last 2 years the pain had gradually grown worse and worse.

I was trying to avoid surgery because I am a business owner and just could not see how I could take time off. The day I was referred to Dr. Flanagan was a Godsend. He was so wonderful. Dr. Flanagan said “Well Loraine, you have issues.” I said  “yes sir, I definitely do!” Dr. Flanagan gave me two options, then he said "Why don't we fix it?" and I confidently responded with “I am ready!!”

I had my surgery for a full hip replacement on April 26, 2017. My recovery time was 6 weeks!!! Following my surgery, I was in St. Vincent's Birmingham from Wednesday to Friday, then  1 ½  weeks on a walker, 1 ½ weeks on a cane and continued therapy for 3 more weeks!!

I can’t believe this! If I had just known how much better I would feel I would have done this a year ago. On a pain scale of 1 to 10, I am now minus 0!!! I am totally PAINFREE!!! I had been going for knee injections for years. After the surgery MY KNEES QUIT HURTING!!! No more injections!!

I now have all my range of motion back. This has been a MIRACLE SURGERY for me. I begged Dr Flanagan to please don't retire before you fix my other hip!! And I am serious!!! According to x-rays, it is well on its way, but at this point it is an occasional low throb. I will not put off this surgery like I did my right hip!

This was my first experience at Andrews Sports Medicine and St. Vincent’s Birmingham. I cannot say enough about the entire experience. I am so thankful to Dr. Flanagan and the Lord for giving him the ability to do what he does and for the restoration of my health. I am now one happy lady!!!
