Knee Replacement (Total)

I am 72 years old and retired. My husband and I live in Alexander City, AL. I had a career as a registered nurse working for a nursing home chain as the Regional Quality Assurance Director.

My husband and I love to travel, go to the beach, the lake, volunteer, and spend time with our 5 grown children and 13 grandchildren.

Since my knee replacement surgery, which was 18 months ago, we have traveled to various places around the world. Only three months post-surgery, we explored the Amazon Jungle. We have also toured Switzerland, the Maldives, the Galapagos Islands, Germany, and we recently got back from South Africa.

Back in 2013, I had my left knee replaced at a hospital in Georgia. That was more of a gradual pain, and it just got worse and worse over time.

Fast forward to 2021. I stepped down from the back door of my house (about 6 inches) and immediately felt excruciating pain in my right knee. From then on, the constant pain was terrible. It was a very different type of pain that I had experienced with my left knee.

I knew I needed to do something about it. I went to my primary care doctor and got an x-ray. He confirmed my right knee was bone on bone, and suggested I schedule a consult with an orthopaedic surgeon.

My son, who is a medical rep at Grandview Medical Center, asked the other reps about my condition and who I should see. They recommended Dr. David Moore at Andrews Sports Medicine. They said he was the best.

My experience with Dr. Moore was excellent! I have no complaints at all. I told him I tried physical therapy and medication first and it didn’t help. He scheduled my surgery then COVID came back through so I waited a little while until I could have it.

The surgery went well, and I had no issues. I did physical therapy at home for 6 weeks. I was scared of infection, so they were nice enough to come to me. After 6 weeks of therapy, I had no pain and no limping. I resumed my regular activities.

My recovery process was great! The function and range of motion of my knee is completely restored with no pain. I am 100 % pleased with my results after my surgery. I am able to walk with an even gait and no one would know I've had two knee replacements.

Today, my life is back to normal, and I have been able to do everything! I am traveling around the world with no pain thanks to Dr. Moore. I don’t have enough words of praise for him! I would absolutely recommend Andrews Sports Medicine without hesitation.

Thank you to Dr. Moore and Andrews Sports Medicine for performing a very successful knee replacement surgery. I can now look toward a bright future!
