Since I was 9-years-old, I have pitched and played softball year round. It was always my dream to play softball in college. After my 7th grade year, I moved to another school in my county. I had to sit out a year from playing because of eligibility rules. I continued to practice with the softball, basketball and volleyball teams.

In January of 2013 (9th grade year), I went up for a rebound and got bumped while in the air. When I landed, my knee hyper-extended and buckled. I tried to run, but fell to the floor. All I could think about was not being able to pitch and play softball that year. Softball is my heart and soul. I was devastated!

My mom immediately called Andrews Sports Medicine and booked an appointment with Dr. Cain. Dr. Cain had repaired my brother’s knee when he tore his ACL, MCL and PCL. My brother was able to return to playing baseball after 5 months. We knew Dr. Cain could work miracles!

I had surgery on January 17th, 2013. I began the hard road of rehab the next day. I worked through the pain and plenty of tears to get my leg strong and ready to play.

On April 9th, 2013 I walked on the field and pitched in the county tournament. I could not hit, nor run, but i pitched the rest of the season. I made honorable mention all-county that season. I have continued playing softball year round. I also played volleyball for my high school.

In the 2014 season, my softball team won the 4A AHSAA state championship and I was named the tournament MVP. I was named All-State 4A honorable mention for pitcher. I was also named to the 2014 all-county softball team. During my 2015 season I made all-county again and was 2nd Team All-State 5A softball.

I have continued to work year round as a pitcher and player. On January 27th, 2016 I signed to play softball at Shelton State. I am looking forward to my senior season and hope to return to the AHSAA State Championship this year.

Without Dr. Cain, I would not have reached my goal of playing college softball. Thanks Dr. Cain!
