Medical Icon Hip Replacement (Anterior)

I was born and raised in the small town of Arab, Alabama. I have always been a very active person, playing baseball in high school and college and then continuing to play on numerous baseball and softball teams as an adult.

I now own a 40-acre farm with lots of cattle. I continued staying in shape by running and bicycling three to four times a week. I remained very active until about two years ago. I started having severe pain in my legs and also began having difficulty walking, raising and bending my legs and even just performing normal daily routines.

I found out I had arthritis and bone spurs on both hips and they both needed to be replaced. Dr. Jeff Davis had performed hip replacement on my cousin, and she did great, so I knew he was the one I wanted to perform my hip replacements.

I felt very comfortable after my first visit with Dr. Davis and his staff. They reassured me the anterior hip replacement was the best choice for me. I had surgery on my left hip on December 18, 2017. I was up walking the next morning and after having therapy, I was released to go home later that afternoon.

After seeing the success of my first hip replacement, I was ready to schedule my second hip replacement as soon as possible. I was scheduled to have surgery on my other hip on January 15th but the Governor declared it a state of emergency due to severe winter weather and my surgery was rescheduled for January 31, 2018.

Post-surgery went great and I was released the next afternoon. My recovery went just as Dr. Davis and his staff had told me. Just nine weeks after having my first hip replaced and then having my second hip replaced, I am back at work. I am also back to working on my farm, performing daily activities, and enjoying my life without the pain I had before my hip replacements.

I would encourage anyone in need of hip replacement to call on Dr. Davis and his staff. They are very professional and make you feel like your health means just as much to them as it does to you.
