Day-Of-Surgery Instructions
On the day of your surgery, you’ll report to the OrthoSports Center Building (same as our Birmingham office).
Go DIRECTLY to the 4th floor and check-in at the surgery waiting room.
**VERY Important – PLEASE READ CAREFULLY!!!!**
- Please DO NOT eat or drink anything (that includes WATER, breath mints, gum, cigarettes/vaping, smokeless tobacco) AFTER MIDNIGHT.
- You can brush your teeth.
- DO NOT take any medications after midnight unless specifically instructed to do so.
Per UAB St. Vincent’s Hospital, adult patients can only have ONE family member/caregiver with you in the hospital. The caregiver must be 16 years of age or older. Minors may have 2 parents attend with them.
**PARKING DECK ACCESS: From University Blvd, pass the main entrance of UAB St. Vincent’s Hospital and go to the stop light by McDonald's. Make a RIGHT onto 28th Street South. Just past the entrance to McDonald's, is an entrance to the parking deck, on your right. Park on Level K, park on the McDonald's end of the building and follow signs to the OrthoSports Center. If there is no parking available on K, you can park on any level of the parking deck and take the elevator to Level K. (Remember what level you parked on!!)
Follow signs to the walkway to the OrthoSports Center building. When you enter the building, you are on the 4th floor. Go to the Surgery Waiting Room at the end of the Hallway, next to the elevators.
***VALET PARKING: Valet parking is available at the front of the OrthoSports Building. To access, enter the main entrance of UAB St. Vincent’s Hospital Campus off 8th Ave/University Blvd. Go Straight through the stop light, then make the first left, into the OrthoSports Center/Building 3 valet circle (before you start to go up the hill).
