Christopher H. Garrett, MD is a fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine, arthroscopic surgery, and the treatment of shoulder, elbow, knee, and hip injuries.
He provides comprehensive orthopaedic care for athletes and active adults of all ages, helping patients recover from sports injuries, overuse conditions, acute sports trauma, and degenerative joint problems so they can safely return to the activities they enjoy.
Dr. Garrett treats a wide range of orthopaedic conditions, including rotator cuff tears, shoulder instability, labral tears, ACL injuries, meniscus tears, cartilage injuries, tendon injuries, elbow ligament injuries, and sports-related fractures.
His practice focuses on both operative and non-operative treatment, emphasizing individualized care and evidence-based decision-making to achieve the best possible outcomes for every patient.

During his fellowship, he gained extensive experience caring for athletes at every level—from youth and high school competitors to collegiate and professional athletes.
Dr. Garrett performs advanced arthroscopic procedures of the shoulder, elbow, knee, and hip, utilizing minimally invasive techniques whenever appropriate to help reduce recovery time and support a safe return to sports and active lifestyles. In addition to sports medicine surgery, he also performs select shoulder, knee, and hip replacement procedures for patients whose joint damage or arthritis requires surgical reconstruction.
He sees patients at Andrews Sports Medicine & Orthopaedic Center’s Birmingham and Hoover (Highway 150) locations. Dr. Garrett also serves as a team physician for the University of Alabama and Spain Park High School, providing on-field and sideline medical coverage while helping athletes safely prevent, manage, and recover from sports injuries.
Committed to delivering the highest level of patient care, Dr. Garrett remains actively involved in orthopaedic research, education, and professional organizations. He continually incorporates the latest advancements in sports medicine, arthroscopic surgery, and orthopaedic techniques into his practice to provide patients with innovative, evidence-based treatment options.
