Christopher H. Garrett, MD is a board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopaedic sports medicine surgeon specializing in advanced arthroscopic surgery and the treatment of shoulder, elbow, knee and hip injuries.

His areas of expertise include ACL injuries, meniscus tears, rotator cuff tears, shoulder instability, labral tears, cartilage injuries, elbow ligament injuries, tendon injuries and sports-related fractures.
Advanced Shoulder, Knee, Elbow & Hip Surgery
Dr. Garrett specializes in minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery and advanced surgical treatment of sports-related and orthopaedic injuries.
His surgical expertise includes ACL reconstruction, meniscus repair and surgery, rotator cuff repair, shoulder stabilization and labral repair, cartilage restoration procedures, and treatment of elbow ligament injuries, including UCL injuries in throwing athletes.
Dr. Garrett also performs advanced arthroscopic procedures of the hip and select shoulder, knee and hip replacement procedures for patients with arthritis or joint damage requiring surgical reconstruction.
Whenever possible, Dr. Garrett emphasizes joint preservation and minimally invasive techniques designed to restore function while supporting an efficient and safe recovery.

Surgery is not always the answer.
Dr. Garrett takes an individualized approach to every patient, beginning with an accurate diagnosis and a clear understanding of the patient’s goals. When an injury can be successfully treated without surgery, he works with patients to develop an evidence-based treatment and rehabilitation plan.

Advanced Fellowship Training at the American Sports Medicine Institute
Following orthopaedic surgery residency, Dr. Garrett was selected for the prestigious American Sports Medicine Institute (ASMI) Sports Medicine Fellowship in Birmingham, Alabama.
During his fellowship, he received advanced training under nationally recognized orthopaedic sports medicine surgeons E. Lyle Cain, Jr., MD, Jeffrey R. Dugas, MD and Benton A. Emblom, MD.
His fellowship provided extensive experience in advanced arthroscopic surgery, sports injury treatment and the care of athletes competing at every level, from youth and high school sports to collegiate and professional athletics.
That experience continues to shape Dr. Garrett’s approach today: combining advanced surgical expertise with a sports medicine philosophy centered on helping patients safely regain function and return to performance.
