Tua Tagovailoa medically cleared for football; Laura Rutledge shares reaction from Dr. Lyle Cain

Ecstatic is the word used by Laura Rutledge when reporting what an Alabama team physician said about the status of former Crimson Tide quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. On Monday, Ian Rapoport reported Tagovailoa, who dislocated his right hip and sustained a posterior wall fracture on Nov. 16, 2019, there was “no concerns” after the quarterback’s four-month scan.

Rutledge, during ESPN’s “Get Up” on Tuesday, reported Dr. Lyle Cain echoed those sentiments.

“My main headline from all of this in talking to Dr. Lyle Cain, the orthopedic surgeon from Alabama, he said, ‘If you told him four months ago that the scan on Tua’s hip looked this good with no concerns, he would have been ecstatic.’ That’s how good it looks,” Rutledge said Tuesday morning. “Now, that’s where we are so that Tua can get back out there and start doing more football-related activity.
