Matthew B. Beidleman, MD

Matthew B. Beidleman, MD, is a fellowship-trained, non-surgical sports medicine and orthopaedic physician at Andrews Sports Medicine & Orthopaedic Center.

He primarily treats patients at the Hoover – Highway 150 clinic four days per week, with an additional clinic day in Birmingham, Alabama.

Dr. Beidleman specializes in diagnosing and treating sports injuries, knee pain, shoulder pain, joint injuries, osteoarthritis and other musculoskeletal conditions.

He provides comprehensive, non-surgical orthopaedic care to patients of all ages and activity levels, helping athletes and active individuals recover from injury and return to the activities they love without surgery whenever possible.

A Homewood, Alabama native, Dr. Beidleman was named Best Sports Medicine Physician in Hoover’s Magazine’s Best of 2026, recognizing his commitment to providing high-quality sports medicine care to athletes and active individuals throughout the Hoover community.

Dr. Beidleman welcomes patients from Hoover, Birmingham, Homewood, Vestavia Hills, Pelham, Helena, Bessemer and surrounding Central Alabama communities. Same-day and next-day appointments may be available for acute injuries.

Education & Sports Medicine Training

Dr. Beidleman graduated from Homewood High School before earning his undergraduate degree from The University of Alabama and his medical degree from the University of Alabama School of Medicine in Birmingham.

He completed his family medicine residency at the University of Tennessee Graduate School of Medicine in Knoxville, where he was selected to serve as Chief Resident.

Following residency, Dr. Beidleman returned to Birmingham to complete a Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship at Andrews Sports Medicine, accredited by the American Sports Medicine Institute (ASMI). His advanced fellowship training focused on the evaluation and non-surgical treatment of athletic injuries and musculoskeletal conditions.

Dr. Beidleman treats patients of all ages and activity levels, including youth athletes, high school and collegiate athletes, weekend warriors and adults seeking relief from acute or chronic joint pain.

Dr. Beidleman emphasizes accurate diagnosis, early intervention and individualized treatment plans designed to reduce pain, restore mobility and improve function while avoiding surgery whenever appropriate.

His treatment options include diagnostic musculoskeletal ultrasound, ultrasound-guided injections and procedures, platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and other orthobiologic treatments, as well as comprehensive injury evaluation and rehabilitation planning.

Team Physician & Community Involvement

As a former Homewood High School student-athlete and a lifelong resident of the Birmingham area, Dr. Beidleman understands the importance of providing accessible, high-quality sports medicine care to local athletes and their families.

He serves as a team physician for Homewood High School and John Carroll Catholic High School, helping student-athletes manage sports-related injuries and safely return to competition.

Working alongside each school’s athletic trainers, coaches and staff, Dr. Beidleman helps provide injury evaluation, treatment and sideline medical coverage, with an emphasis on helping student-athletes safely recover and return to competition.

His involvement in local athletics reflects his commitment to supporting the health, safety and long-term well-being of athletes throughout Hoover, Homewood, Birmingham and surrounding communities.

Personal Interests

Outside of medicine, Dr. Beidleman enjoys cheering on his alma mater, the Alabama Crimson Tide, and spending time with his wife, Kate, and their golden retriever, Franklin.
