
BIOGRAPHY
Charles T. Carnel, MD is a non-surgical spine physician that is board-certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation. He is fellowship-trained in interventional spine and musculoskeletal medicine.Referring Physician Form - Charles Carnel,MD
Dr. Carnel helps patients achieve a better quality of life through minimally-invasive procedures including X-ray guided spinal injections, nerve ablations, treatment of spinal fractures with kyphoplasty, as well as in-office musculoskeletal injections, which aim to increase function and reduce pain.
A native of Cookeville, Tennessee, Dr. Carnel earned his bachelor’s degree in biology from East Tennessee State University, then achieved his medical degree from the James H. Quillen College of Medicine in Johnson City, Tennessee.
In 2006, Dr. Carnel moved to Birmingham for his residency training in physical medicine and rehabilitation at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Then, subsequently, he completed an interventional spine and musculoskeletal medicine fellowship.
Outside of work, Dr. Carnel, an Eagle Scout, can be found enjoying one of his many hobbies including photography, sport shooting, hunting, automotive racing, metal work, barbecuing or traveling the world with his wife Hillary. He is also the proud dog dad to two rescues, Maggie and Sally.

Daryl Flanagan, PA-C
A native of Birmingham, Daryl Flanagan graduated with honors from Auburn University in 2009. After college she came home to the Magic City to work for several years at a local pain management clinic. Daryl returned to school at the University of South Alabama to complete the Physician Assistant program, graduating with a Master's degree in Health Sciences. She is Board Certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). As a Physician Assistant, Daryl works collaboratively with Dr. Charles Carnel and Dr. Andrew Cordover to provide compassionate, efficient, and patient-centered care. She is a former student athlete with a firsthand outlook on the challenges of coping with orthopedic injuries. Daryl's experiences as a patient have driven her passion for sports medicine and orthopedics.
