Katie graduated from the University of West Alabama and started her career with Andrews Sports Medicine as an athletic trainer. She worked alongside Dr. Norman Waldrop, our foot & ankle orthopaedic surgeon, for a number of years. She went to UAB to attend Physician Assistant school and pursue a career as a PA.

In 2015, Katie decided to pursue a career as a PA because it fit her athletic training and sports medicine background. After graduating from UAB’s Physician Assistant Studies program, she was welcomed back to Andrews Sports Medicine to work alongside Dr. Wayne McGough in the clinic, the operating room and athletic event coverage.

Katie lives in downtown Birmingham and enjoys spending time with her husband, Brett, and their miniature dachshund, Odie. Katie and Brett have been married since 2013 and they like to explore Birmingham and try new restaurants. They also love to travel the world and find new places to visit. This past year, they traveled to Jamaica, Spain. Germany and Colorado.

Katie is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and Girl Scouts of the USA. A fun fact about her is that she earned her Gold Award, which is the highest award in Girl Scouting.
