One of Alabama's young offensive lineman sustained a serious injury during the Tide's scrimmage on Saturday.
Redshirt freshman offensive guard Richie Petitbon suffered a torn ACL, sources told AL.com. He has already undergone surgery, which Alabama confirmed in a statement Tuesday morning.
"He has undergone successful surgery with Dr. Lyle Cain in Birmingham, and we anticipate a full recovery," coach Nick Saban said in the statement.
A former four-star recruit, the 6-foot-4, 300-pound Petitbon was one of several players competing for a starting offensive guard spot with both jobs up for grabs.
Petitbon was ranked the No. 5 offensive guard and No. 65 overall prospect in last year's recruiting class in the 247Sports Composite Rankings.
