Andrews Sports Medicine

During the sixth game of our 2022 USFL season, I once again injured my left knee. Two days later, I was at Andrews Sports Medicine, where our Stallions team doctor, Dr. Marc Rothermich, diagnosed me with a quad tear in my left knee. Unfortunately, my season was over.

Unfortunately, while playing defense late in the 4th quarter of the state championship game, I suffered a very severe injury. From my linebacker position, I was running to make a tackle and someone from the bottom side of the stack fell on my right leg. I was immediately in a lot of pain, and I was unable to get up. This was the final play of my high school career, and I truly felt like I had left it all on the field, finishing the game with 10 tackles.

In the spring of 2021, I was preparing for my tournament season and was looking forward to the first major event of the season, The Masters. This is a huge, world-class event at Callaway Gardens in Pine Mountain, Georgia. I was practicing a jump one week before the Masters. When I hit the ramp, I felt something strange, and my right knee instantly started hurting.

The Sunday after Thanksgiving, we had a basketball practice before our first home game of the season. I was going past a defender for a layup, when in  midair, the defender hit the side of my knee.  The next night, I played my first varsity home game. I ran through all the warmups and plays before the game. Slowly I began limping. 

In the Fall of 2019, I was a softball pitcher in my junior year at Oklahoma State University. I began experiencing numbness and tingling in my left elbow. Also, I could not grip the softball. My arm had been swollen for a couple of weeks and so I decided to get it evaluated by my athletic trainer. He said that I had a stress fracture in my ulna and recommended I take time off from softball for 6 weeks. I had gone home to Minnesota for the Christmas break...

After researching the clinic and doctor, my parents and I had pretty good confidence with Andrews Sports Medicine. We submitted my paperwork and MRI to Dr. Emblom’s clinical team. They said they wanted to see me immediately because it was a fresh ACL and that they deal with growth plates all the time, so we made the appointment. However, we were still a bit skeptical until we drove the 15 hours and met the staff and Dr. Emblom. My family and I realized at that moment it was the best possible direction for me!
