Specialized Rehabilitation for Elbow, Wrist & Hand Conditions
At Andrews Sports Medicine, our Certified Hand Therapists provide specialized hand therapy and occupational therapy to help patients recover from elbow, wrist and hand injuries, surgery and conditions that affect everyday function.
With hand therapy clinics in Birmingham, Cullman, Pelham and Trussville, our team provides personalized rehabilitation focused on reducing pain, improving movement and strength, and helping you return to work, sports and the activities you enjoy.
Personalized Hand & Occupational Therapy
Hand therapy combines specialized knowledge of upper extremity anatomy with treatment that supports recovery and everyday function. Whether you are recovering from surgery or managing a condition without surgery, our therapists develop a treatment plan based on your needs and goals.
Our hand therapy services include:
- Rehabilitation following elbow, wrist & hand surgery
- Non-surgical rehabilitation for injuries & chronic conditions
- Splinting to protect healing structures & support function
- Exercises to improve range of motion, strength & coordination
- Therapeutic techniques to address pain & stiffness
- Upper extremity dry needling, when appropriate
- Education to support recovery & help prevent reinjury
Meet Our Certified Hand Therapists
Our occupational therapists - Abby Collins, Kramer Hodges, Connor Flanagan, Holly Koster, and Quinn Malbrough - are Certified Hand Therapists (CHTs) dedicated to helping patients regain use of their elbow, wrist and hand. Each is also certified in upper extremity dry needling.
The CHT credential recognizes advanced knowledge and clinical skills in upper extremity rehabilitation. Maintaining this certification requires ongoing professional development and recertification every five years.
Our talented therapists work closely with Christopher M. Beaumont, MD and Kathleen E. McKeon, MD, hand and wrist orthopaedic surgeons at The Andrews Hand & Wrist Center, as well as other Andrews Sports Medicine physicians, to coordinate rehabilitation throughout your care.

What is a Certified Hand Therapist?
A Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) is a therapist who has a minimum of three years of clinical experience, including more than 4,000 hours in direct practice in upper extremity care. In addition, a CHT has successfully passed a comprehensive post-professional exam of advanced clinical skills and theory in upper extremity rehabilitation. Because of progression in the field, every CHT is required to demonstrate continued professional development and competency by recertifying every five years.
