We are here for your hand therapy needs

Our Hand Therapy Services department is located on the ground floor of the OrthoSports Tower on the UAB St. Vincent's Birmingham campus. We also have hand therapy clinics conveniently located within our CullmanPelham and Trussville clinic locations.

Hand Therapy is the specialized rehabilitation of the upper limb that combines comprehensive knowledge of upper extremity anatomy and pathology with function and activity.

Using specialized skills in assessment, treatment, and splinting our hand therapists provide therapeutic interventions to prevent/reverse dysfunction, decrease pain, increase range of motion and strength , and improve function. Our team treats a variety of conditions from post-operative to preventative.

A Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) is a therapist who has a minimum of three years of clinical experience, including more than 4,000 hours in direct practice in upper extremity care. In addition, a CHT has successfully passed a comprehensive post-professional exam of advanced clinical skills and theory in upper extremity rehabilitation. Because of progression in the field, every CHT is required to demonstrate continued professional development and competency by recertifying every five years.

Our Occupational Therapists, Jonathan Berry, Kramer Hodges, Connor FlanaganHolly Koster, and Quinn Malbrough are dedicated to helping and serving patients with elbow, wrist and hand injuries. All five of them are also certified in Dry Needling of the upper extremity.

These talented OT's work alongside our two hand and wrist orthopaedic surgeons, Christopher M. Beaumont, MD and  Kathleen E. McKeon, MD at
The Andrews Hand & Wrist Center, to diagnose and identify the best form of treatment for injuries, disorders, and chronic condition's based on each patient's unique situation. They always strive to help each, and every patient achieve victory over their injury.
